Wyllin Cot

About

Wyllin Cot is a delightful 18th century fisherman's cottage, nestled in the hamlet of Glen Wyllin and is steeped in history. Glen Wyllin started out life as a mill and Wyllin means ‘mill’ in Manx. The cottage was built in the 18th century and has been restored sympathetically to maintain original character with modern day luxuries. It is situated in a conservation area where there are immediate walks on your door step. You can take a lovely wooded riverside walk in Coooildarry Nature Reserve which is owned by the Manx Wildlife Trust or down to the beach and along the coast.

You are spoilt for choice in Wyllin Cot as you can either completely relax in the cottage and on those colder days you can curl up next to the log burner. If you are more of an adventurous type and like to be out and about exploring there are plenty of mountain bike trails, lots of tarmac for those road cyclists or for motor bike enthusiasts with immediate access to the Isle of Man TT course. For walkers the Raad Ny Foillan coastal footpath or up into the hills and all without jumping into a car!

Inside you will find a very cute little cottage! There is a lounge/kitchen with a downstairs toilet and wash room and upstairs the Master bedroom with a shower/bath (sit down shower) and next door your dressing room with hair dryer, straighteners and clothes hangers/storage. We can for a small child put a pull out bed in the dressing room if it is needed. The cottage has the option of a small sofa bed in a second bedroom, suitable for a small child.

Indulge in the luxury deep bath in the bedroom with sit in bath shower and a traditional non-plumbed jug and wash basin next to the bath in the bedroom, toilet and sink downstairs. Please note the washing facilities wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility issues as you need to be able to step into the bath.

Situated across the lane from the house and originally set up by 2 entrepreneurs in the late 1800s, when the railway ran into Glen Wyllin, as a Victorian garden with a tea room. Rare plants were brought into the garden to thrive into this area which is now owned by the cottage. A beautiful and large wild garden with a river running alongside provides the perfect setting for you to unwind.

Wyllin Cot is managed by local self-catering holiday cottage company Island Escapes. To book Wyllin Cot please visit their website.
