Recently awarded status as a UNESCO Biosphere, the Isle of Man is the only entire jurisdiction in the world to be awarded this prestigious title. The status recognises the way in which the Island’s population exists alongside a plethora of diverse natural habitats.

A great place to start if you want to experience some of the Island’s best maintained gardens and estates is at Milntown in the north of the Island. Here you’ll find an impressive 15 acres of perfectly kept gardens and woodland at this grand period property.

Throughout the gardens you’ll find a dazzling display of plants as well as woodland walks which offer a cool and shady contrast. There’s also a mill pond where you can feed the ducks and a tearoom to indulge in delicious lunches, tea and cakes.

Another spot to explore is The Cooill y Ree Gardens in St John’s. Offering spectacular views across Tynwald Hill and a walk through the sunken area, you will be rewarded with the opportunity to see butterflies, birds, lizards and bats.
