The Isle of Man is a walker’s delight with rugged cliffs, rolling hills, hidden coves and some of the most beautiful scenery in the British Isles. Whether you enjoy a gentle stroll or a challenging hike, there’s a range of footpaths, glens and tracks for you to explore.

As walking is one of the most popular activities for visitors and residents alike, the Isle of Man has something to offer walkers of all ages and abilities. No matter how far you choose to walk, we’re sure the crisp sea air and mixed terrain will work up a healthy appetite!

The Walkers Welcome Scheme has been developed for visitors to identify walker-friendly eateries to grab a bite to eat after an outdoors adventure – where you may not be looking or feeling your most presentable! These cafés, pubs and restaurants are well equipped for making walkers feel as comfortable as possible when choosing a rest-stop, with drying facilities for your wet equipment and boot scrapes for those with muddy footwear.

All our walker-friendly eateries are flexible, offering snacks and meals throughout the day so you don’t have to go hungry if you’re after a mid-morning treat or a late lunch. Or if you’d prefer not to sit in, you can find refill facilities for your water bottle and buy a packed lunch to take with you on your journey.

You’ll find local information on where to walk, available public transport and a map of the local area for you to refer to as well as information on nearby attractions. The informative and friendly staff can also provide walking literature and give you access to free WiFi to help you plan your next route.

So don’t worry if your boots are muddy or you’re looking a little windswept – you’re more than welcome to eat in any of the walker-friendly places identified under the Walkers Welcome Scheme.
