Accessible Accommodation

Heading off on holiday should always be a relaxing and enjoyable experience and that’s why we're proud to offer a list of accessible accommodation for those who may require a few extras to make their stay a more enjoyable experience. Our aim is to provide easy access to accommodation to all guests, ensuring you are comfortable and relaxed during your Island stay. We want you to soak up the gorgeous scenery and take in that sea breeze at your own pace.

If you’re looking for easily accessible accommodation for yourself, a friend or a family member you’ll find a number of accommodation providers around the Island who have been accredited with a mobility rank to make accommodation for older and less mobile guests much more accessible.

If you require accessibility aids whilst visiting the Isle of Man, including wheerchairs and commodes, please contact the British Red Cross or Disability Networks, who will be able to assist you to ensure your requirements are met.

National Accessible Scheme (NAS)

Following the introduction of the National Accessible Scheme, Isle of Man Tourism is proud to announce that several properties have now been assessed and accredited with a mobility rating ranging from M1 to M3i.

M1 - (One step ahead) – Older and less mobile guests
Typically suitable for a person with a sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance.
M2 – Part-time wheelchair users
Typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those who may need to use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps.
M3i – Independent wheelchair users
Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and transfers unaided to and from the wheelchair in a seated position. This person may be an independent traveller.
M3a – Assisted wheelchair users
Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and requires assistance from a carer, and maybe a hoist, when transferring to and from the wheelchair in a seated position.
M3ie – Access Exceptional
Access Exceptional is awarded to establishments that meet the requirements of assisted wheelchair users and also fulfil more demanding requirements with reference to the British Standard BS 8300.
