The Manx National Heritage showcase a number of special exhibitions throughout the year featuring artwork, artefacts and interesting talks. Exploring Island life from its humble Celtic and Viking beginnings to its importance during the World Wars, the exhibitions are a fascinating way to discover what makes the Isle of Man so unique. Aside from its rich and colourful past, you can also find out more about its place in modern society with exhibitions that explore current Island talent – such as photographers, musicians, artists and other creatives.
For a closer look at the Island’s creative industries, make time to visit some of the art galleries during your stay. The SayleGallery in Douglas, promotes the work of local artists with the aim to inspire interest in the visual arts. You’ll find a diverse selection of exhibitions in the main gallery which change monthly. Offering a broad range of styles and media – from prints, hand-made glass, ceramics and sculpture – there’s something for everyone.
Another place to explore is the Erin Arts Centre in the seaside town of Port Erin. It is a non-profit arts centre dedicated to presenting performing, vocal and visual art for the benefit of the Island’s community. Here you’ll find an exhibition gallery as well as a superb venue for musical recitals and local play festivals.
