The Manx Herbalist – Nature's Apothecary: The Wellbeing Garden

Type:Wildlife/Nature

The Manx Herbalist – Nature's Apothecary: The Wellbeing Garden

About

Join Jane Prescott, The Manx Herbalist, for a gentle, slow-paced walk through the garden, created in 2003, on the former tenter field at St Johns Mill.

Designed by Jane in collaboration with the Manx Wildlife Trust, the garden demonstrates how a thoughtfully planned space can support both wildlife and human wellbeing. Many of the plants growing here have a long history as medicinal herbs, used for healing in the past and still valued today.

As you walk, Jane will share the story of the garden's design and evolution, its importance for wildlife, and the medicinal plants it contains—highlighting their traditional uses, healing properties, and the folklore woven around them.

The walk will conclude with the opportunity to enjoy a cup of herbal tea.

We will meet at the entrance to the garden in Tynwald Mills. Parking is available in the car park on the Poortown Road with the garden accessed across the footbridge and along the lane.

The garden is accessible, although part of the route is along a bound gravel footpath. Dogs are not admitted to the garden. The visit will go ahead unless it is too wet, so bring appropriate coats and footwear. It should be noted that there will a need to stand or walk at a slow pace for most of the event.

The ticket price includes a £5 donation towards improvements being carried out in the garden. Additional donations will be much appreciated. No charge for children under 12.

Email Jane on themanxherbalist@gmail.com to book your place.
