Half a mile north of Onchan, accessed via the Douglas to Ramsey mountain road from Hillberry corner, lie the Clypse and Kerrowdhoo reservoirs, both of which are traditional fly-fishing only waters. These reservoirs are fairly open to the elements, so casting can be tricky on windy days. However, this openness means back casting is rarely hindered by trees and bushes. The Clypse shallows up towards the north end of the reservoir, with the deepest water being located around the dam wall. The Kerrowdhoo is larger and slightly deeper than the Clypse. The deepest water can be found along the east bank, though fly casting can be difficult here due to the immediate proximity of trees and hedgerows. 'The Flats' found along the west bank close to the dam wall end of the reservoir is a very popular area with the local anglers. The water depth found here is ideally suited to fly fishing from the bank.
These reservoirs offer high quality stocked rainbow trout from 2lb upwards into double figures, along with the occasional wild brown trout. The reservoirs are stocked between March and October on a regular basis. An Isle of Man Government Reservoir Licence is required to fish this reservoir.
Parking: There is a large car parking area on site, at the end of Clypse Mooar Road.
Season Information: In summer (10th March – 31st Oct.) there is a four fish bag limit (two for a concessionary season licence) while in winter there is a two fish limit for all licence holders. Barbless hooks must be used in winter. The reservoir is closed to fishing from 1st February to 9th March (inclusive).

Half a mile north of Onchan, lies the Clypse and Kerrowdhoo reservoirs. Both very scenic and surrounded by vast countryside, offer a very dark sky perfect for a spot of stargazing. Enjoy sky views to the North, East and South of the Island.
Clypse Kerrowdhoo Reservoir car park is one of 26 registered Dark Sky Discovery Sites on the Isle of Man. With the help of Interpretation Boards on site, stargazers can fully enjoy the stunning views on offer in the Manx skies.
