Gaiety Theatre Guided Tours

Gaiety Theatre Guided Tours

About

The guided tours of the Gaiety Theatre have developed over the years encompassing Manx social history, the history of the site of the Gaiety and how it has developed, the history of Manx entertainment over the last 120+ years and the actual survival and restoration of the Gaiety as we know it today.

Our tour guides take people back in time and wind their way through the building starting with all the ‘pretty’ areas and adornments of the front of house and ornate auditorium, to the more practical backstage, then under the stage into the amazing ‘trap house’, one of the Gaiety’s best kept secrets, displaying the famous Corsican Trap, the only one of its kind in the world, then finally via the costume display and historical lighting museum, including original early electrical stage lighting and original projection equipment. Tying in the all-encompassing factors that go together to create the drama for your comfort and entertainment.

Please note: The tours can take up to 2hr 15m and sadly due to the historic structure of the building, not all areas are disabled friendly
