This outstanding circular walk in the north of the Island shows you the very best of Maughold's marvels and provides spectacular viewpoints whilst walking along a section of the Raad ny Foillan, the coastal footpath. The protected Maughold Broogh's are an excellent area for spotting marine and birdlife and in the summer, wildflowers abound including bluebells and orchids. Be sure to stop and view the Island's largest collection of carved Celtic and Viking Crosses in the grounds of St Maughold Church including one of the earliest examples of the Triskellion, the Manx three legs emblem. The walk follows onto small coves and returns along a quiet country lane through the charming hamlet of Maughold, overlooked by North Barrule summit and offering far-reaching views over rolling countryside.
Advice and Safety Information
Please note that access to the foreshore is restricted at high tide (access available from road to Port e Vullen). The first section is steep in places. Whilst walking along the footpaths please be farm aware, and keep your dog on a lead when near livestock.
Moderate - walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. The route will include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and suitable clothing are essential.
