With its varied terrain of forests, country lanes and challenging peaks, the Isle of Man is one of the best places in the British Isles for mountain biking.

Whether its competition you seek or just an opportunity to explore, the Manx landscape has it all. Where else can you scale mountainous peaks and winding forests to be rewarded with magnificent countryside and coastal views in just one ride?

Hundreds of visitors are welcomed to the Isle of Man each year from around the world for a number of cycling events.

The Isle of Man’s forests and countryside contain a huge variety of cycle trails ranging from open natural tracks, gravel paths to purpose built single-tracks making it perfect for mountain bikers or a family ride out. Forests can be linked to make a full day’s ride out by following way-marked routes that take advantage of the Island’s network of Byways and Greenway Roads.

After a full day of exploring you can be sure of a warm welcome at a choice of Cyclists Welcome accommodation. Here you will find specific facilities to make your stay easier, including somewhere to hang wet clothing overnight, facilities for storing and washing your bike, plus handy little extras like puncture repair kits and first aid kits.

Ultimately, mountain biking in the Isle of Man can be as challenging or as relaxing as you want it to be, and whatever you decide, you’re guaranteed to have a fun and exhilarating experience.
