Heritage Trail (Old Railway Line)

About

A simple trail following the old steam railway line from Douglas to Peel, is a level easy route suitable for families. Stop for refreshments in St Johns and you have all the makings of a perfect morning or afternoon out for all the family. Finish your ride on Peel Bay to find some famous Manx ice cream.

You can choose to ride the whole route as a return trip, in one direction only or a small section of the trail.

It's a popular trail over a hard-pack surface and you will often encounter young cyclists, horse riders, walkers and dog owners. Please respect these users, give plenty of warning when approaching and keep your speeds low when passing.

Note the beginning of this trail from Douglas is used as an access road during the TT Races and Manx Grand Prix.

The Heritage Trail is very popular with horse riders, particularly around the St John's area.
