South Barrule Forest is one of the Island's most popular woodlands for outdoor adventure and is a convenient gateway to neighbouring forests and hill land.
The Silverburn begins its journey above the village of St Marks, passing through Ballasalla before entering the sea at Castletown Harbour. Sea trout and salmon do run it, but it is predominantly a trout stream.
The small Groudle River runs through the mature woodland of Groudle and Molly Quirk’s Glens. There is good, easily accessible angling here for wild brown trout.
