Manx Grand Prix Races 2024

Type:Motorsport

Manx Grand Prix Races

About

Five days of qualifying will commence on Sunday 18th August 2024 ahead of a six-race schedule spread across an action-packed Summer Bank Holiday weekend.

Racing will begin on Friday 23rd August with both the Lightweight Manx Grand Prix featuring the ever-popular 2-stroke machines, and the Classic Senior Manx Grand Prix – brought forward from its previous Saturday slot as part of the expanded schedule.

Saturday 24th August will begin with a 3-lap Classic Junior Manx Grand Prix, which returns to the race programme for the first time since 2019. Last run under the Classic TT banner, the class is home to smaller capacity 350cc bikes and the closely-matched machinery has often delivered some spectacular racing, with past winners including Michael Dunlop, Lee Johnston, Michael Rutter, Jamie Coward, and Dominic Herbertson.

Its reintroduction comes after a period of consultation with the Race Organiser and representatives from throughout the classic racing fraternity in a concerted effort to bolster the entry and ensure the long-term viability of historic racing at the Manx Grand Prix, following a depleted entry for the Classic Senior Race at the 2022 event. It is envisaged that a dedicated race for the popular Junior machines will attract more competitors and team owners to the event, given another outing for period bikes.

The second day of racing action then concludes with the 4-lap Junior Manx Grand Prix for Supertwin machines.

The 2024 event will culminate on the Summer Bank Holiday of Monday 26th August with the headline Senior and Classic Superbike Manx Grand Prix Races. Both races are scheduled to be held over a 4-lap distance, with the latter expected to attract the biggest names in road racing once again on-board iconic models from the 1980s and 90s.
