A Brief History of Mining & Quarrying in the South

Type:Exhibition

A Brief History of Mining & Quarrying in the South

About

Come and explore the history of mining and quarrying in the south of the Island in the latest exhibition at Rushen Heritage Centre.
The exhibition has been curated by Rushen Heritage Trust's Ali Graham based on text and photographs supplied by Peter Geddes and Sue Jones from the Laxey Mines Research Group, along with other photographs from various sources.
Lead, copper, iron, zinc and small quantities of silver have all been found in the south ofthe Island and the exhibition features mines such as Bradda and Foxdale. Our thanks to everyone who has helped bring the story to life.
The exhibition is open 10.00am-4.00pm Tuesday to Saturday, and entry is free (donations are always welcome!).
