The Stables Holiday Accommodation

About

The Stables is a recently renovated two bedroom Manx stone cottage.  It is located in 50 acres of grounds including the Fairy Glen following Santon River, woodland, fields and gardens.  Yet, it is also a 10 minute drive from the capital of Douglas, 5 minutes from the Airport and a 5 minute walk from a frequent bus stop.

The cottage is on two floors.  Downstairs there is a bedroom with double (Super King size 6'x6'6") or twin beds (optional) with an en suite wet room (shower, basin, WC).  In addition, there is an open plan living room with kitchen (induction hob, electric oven, sink, microwave, toaster, fridge), twin sofa-beds, smart tv and an additional separate WC.  This leads through glass doors onto a paved sun terrace with barbecue facilities.  The downstairs is on a single level and suitable for disabled access (awaiting inspection & approval)..  The ground floor has underfloor heating throughout.

The upstairs is accessed by a separate entrance with external steps.  It contains a double (Super King or twin option) bed with an en suite wet room (shower, basin, WC).  Though the upstairs is not suitable for oven cooking, basic kitchen facilities (fridge, sink, toaster & microwave) are provided.

Adjoining the cottage is an external shed with washing machine, cordless vacuum cleaner and space for bicycles or to dry clothes.

The cottage is in the grounds of a 500 year old Mill and separated by a large paved area for safe off road parking.  The entire area is serviced by fast free Wi-Fi.

Guests have exclusive access to the Fairy Glen.  This includes a 600 metre nature walk with a natural pool (available to swimmers accustomed to cool waters!) and a waterfall with salmon ladder.  The route is through bluebells (early May), wild garlic (late May) and ferns throughout the year.  There’s plenty of bird life including herons and duck.  Adventurous walkers (or ultra-keen photographers) can venture further through the undergrowth and cross the meandering river past the Fairy Bridge up to an old quarry 1.5 kilometres away.

Though the river runs through dense woodland, over 1km (1000 yards) there are accesss points for exclusive freshwater fishing. All year, the stream is occupied by brown trout.  However, in September and October after rainfall, salmon and sea trout swim to spawn upstream.  Fishing licences can be obtained from the Manx Government.
