Dove Cottage

About

Set within the grounds of a 19th century water mill, this delightful single level self-catering holiday cottage has the perfect mix of private rural setting and easy access to Castletown’s numerous pubs, eateries, railway station and picturesque harbour all within a leisurely 10 minutes walk.

Dove Cottage is perfectly situated for the Billown course where the Southern 100 and pre and post TT classic motorbike races take place, with the start and finish line a short walk across one of the biker friendly local farmer's fields. The property is ideal for enthusiasts choosing to visit the island for any of the numerous events staged during the year. There is ample parking for cars and motorcycles at the cottage too!

History lovers are equally well provided for with Castle Rushen, one of the worlds best preserved medieval castles within easy walking distance. The charming Isle of Man Steam Railway, showcasing wonderful Victorian-era engineering, passes the bottom of the long private driveway leading to Dove Cottage. Hop on at Castletown station and journey south for beach days in Port Erin!

If you stay at Dove Cottage you will be surrounded by history. It is next to Golden Meadow Mill, built in about 1815 on the site of earlier mills dating back to the start of the 1500s. It is a listed building and one of the most complete mills on the Isle of Man, which is showcased annually to group tours organised by Manx National Heritage.

Why not make the holiday complete by bringing your dog with you. With Castletown’s dog friendly beach also within 15 minutes walk, the expansive sands either side of high tide provide the ideal place to take in that early morning walk or evening stroll before a cosy evening in front of the log burner.

Dove Cottage is managed by local self-catering holiday company Island Escapes. To book Dove Cottage, please visit their website.
