This four-tiered hill is one of the Island’s most distinctive landmarks and a signal of the Isle of Man’s independence as a self-governing crown dependency.
This river flows down from Glen Rushen to the sea near the village of Glen Maye in the west of the island. There is also a long stretch of public fishing upstream of the village.
The Silverburn begins its journey above the village of St Marks, passing through Ballasalla before entering the sea at Castletown Harbour. Sea trout and salmon do run it, but it is predominantly a trout stream.
