The Boatyard Restaurant - Manx Menu 2024

About

Situated on the historic quayside of Peel, the Boatyard offers guests a coastal retreat with its chic nautical decor, harvest of local seafood and incredible island produce cooked by our chefs which you can observe from the open view kitchen.

Founded by the Mowat family in 2013, The Boatyard celebrated 10 delicious years in 2023. Located on the quayside, overlooking Peel marina, we are truly privileged to showcase local island ingredients and produce at their best in such a fine coastal setting. Whether it’s a seaside bite, candlelit dinner, or scrumptious Sunday roast lunch, we strive to give our guests a memorable dining experience.

Manx Menu Starter: Manx Queenie Pancake

The island is famous for its queenies and scallops caught from local boats and landed on the shores of the island. Whilst traditionally served pan fried with bacon and bread, we took all the best parts of the traditional dish and created our Manx Queenie pancake. Panfried queenies, bacon lardons, creamy white wine sauce, encased in a herb pancake dusted with Manx cheese and baked in the oven. Rustic, local and absolutely delicious. So much so, it’s been a customer favorite for over 15 years.

Manx Menu Main Course: Manannan's Cloak

Manannan’s Cloak Inspired by the legend of Manannan and the mythical shroud of mist that Manannan would throw over the island to protect us from seafaring enemies. Manannan’s cloak is a Manx legend on a plate, showcasing the best of local seafood, most of which is landed on the quayside feet away from the restaurant. Representing the coast, King Scallop on a bed of crispy Manx kale (seaweed), local Niarbyl crab croquette, and local lobster, Manx sautéed potatoes (rugged cliffs), with a savory foam covering the dish representing Manannan’s cloak.
