Visiting the Isle of Man - key things to know

Manx Transport Heritage Museum

Type:Museum

Inside the Museum and an original cart to carry the luggage of visitors to their hotels around Douglas Bay

About

The world's smallest production car in the Island's smallest museum.

Visit to see the original P50 micro car, designed and made in 1964 in Peel, by Peel Engineering at a small factory just 300 yards away from the Museum. The car can also be seen running at rallies and events during the summer months.

The Museum also holds a replica of George Formby's famous TT racing bike from the film 'No Limit' as well as details and original prototypes of the innovative flywheels and cylinder head for the BMC rally cars and racing cars.

Many nostalgic photographs and information about all aspects of Manx transport, G scale models of Railway stock, maps and memorabilia of the many Railway systems built in Peel over the last 150 years can also be seen.

Across the road is the site of the surviving Peel Railway line with the original Water Tower and a 3 compartment passenger guard coach body No.C1.

Don't miss the annual Classic and Vintage Vechicle Rally on the first Sunday each August (together with Peel Carnival). A gathering for enthusiasts and spectacle for spectators of all interesting transport, from steam traction engines to classic Jaguars.
