About
As you know, Hoolie is the Manx word for ‘bloody windy’, which it often is on the Isle of Man. Fermented from molasses in our old milking shed distillery and double distilled in our wood-fired still, Hoolie delivers a malty-liquorice gust with a charcoal filtered finish ready for daiquiris, mojitos or our excellent simple serve of Hoolie and ginger ale.
Tasting notes: Biscuity cereal notes with sweet liquorice and a hint of vegetal fennel, a touch of butterscotch, and zesty spice.
Manx Daq it up! Our hero serve for Hoolie is the Manx Daiquiri. 50ml Hoolie, 25ml lime juice, 20ml simple syrup, 7ml of Hurricane.
Hoolie became the first white rum made in the British Isles to be stocked on the shelves of Harrods, a wonderful and surprising listing that surpassed our expectations. As well as gracing the shelves of some key bars in the UK, Hoolie (and the Manx daq) has become a hero serve at the Kiki Lounge on the North Quay, as well as having a growing presence across the Island - in bars, the Wine Cellar, EVF, Steam Packet and the airport shop. The bottle is hard to miss! So people can try by asking for a Hoolie and ginger ale (with fresh lime) wherever they see our bright bottle - or stroll into Kikis and ask for a Manx daiquiri.
We made great strides in 2023 getting Hoolie into Harrods, getting Hurricane (our overproof rum) onto weekend TV - where we almost knocked Alan Titchmarsh off his chair - and having our rum finish as Runner-Up in TWE's Rum of the Year awards: https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/feature/rumoftheyear
For what is essentially a two-man operation working out of a small converted milking shed in Andreas to be up alongside huge global operations like Mount Gay, Chairman's Reserve and Hampden Estate is somewhat insane. We are turning 2024 into a make-or-break year so any and all support would be hugely appreciated as we look to continue putting the Isle of Man on the rum map!
