Description:
Our dish, The Manx Chippy Tea, showcases a traditional Fish, Chips and Peas served with a side of Manx Queenies and homemade tartare sauce. It is a classic takeaway dish, but with a Manx twist and made extra special thanks to our locally sourced produce.
Firstly, let’s start with the fish – Manx Callig. It is caught locally and sourced from The Fish Market at Robinsons. The fish is coated in homemade batter, then fried to perfection so that the white fish flakes and the batter is crisp. Delicious!
Next the chips - we are proud to only ever use Manx potatoes, delivered daily to us from Lough Dhoo Farm. They are washed, peeled and chipped before cooking to make traditional ‘chippy’ chips, the way you remember them.
We have chosen to serve our traditional dish with a side of Manx Queenies, locally supplied from Ellan Vannin Seafoods. Our queenies are lightly dipped in batter and fried at a high temperature. They melt in your mouth and are the perfect twist on a traditional fish and chips.
Of course, The Manx Chippy Tea is served with homemade mushy peas (peas supplied from Robinsons) and a tub of homemade tartare sauce using our secret recipe. We must not forget the salt and vinegar, that no chippy tea would be without! Collectively, The Manx Chippy Tea, presents a meal that is filled with nostalgia, tradition but ultimately tastes delicious thanks to well selected Manx products that we are proud to use.
Peel Fisheries Chippy:
Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine the fun and success we have had from buying a little chip shop in Peel. 10 years ago, we took the gamble of going into business and we were welcomed with open arms by the people of Peel.
In the 10 years, we have made some big changes that has helped us grow significantly, Firstly, we aimed to use locally sourced produce where available. Then we introduced biodegradable packaging in 2018, long before the introduction of banning single use plastics. Most recently, we have introduced a delivery service that serves over the west of the island, making chippy tea more convenient than ever!
We aim to be a traditional fish and chip shop - serving the chippy favourites that are nostalgic and filled with memories. This being said, we want to create memories for the next generation. Whether it be a chippy lunch on the beach or chippy tea whilst watching the fireworks! Some of our team have been with us for nearly the whole 10 years and we can't thank them enough for their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm.
