About
Manx Menu Large Plate: Moosh
Manx brisket cooked in Bushy's bitter overnight in a cooling wood-fired oven, served on a pizza with Stilton, thyme-roast mushrooms, kale & caramelised red onion.
Black Dog Oven:
The Black Dog Oven was born from one woman’s passion for simple, fresh and quality local ingredients and one man’s love of fire. Using the humble pizza as a vehicle for those qualities we hold dear, the Black Dog started out in 2017 as a mobile pizza oven taking wood-fired flavours to festivals and events across the Isle of Man.
The desire to concentrate our menu on the wealth of locally grown and produced foods resulted in a unique pizza menu which found instant popularity, and after a few years it became clear the Dog needed a permanent home. Being named after the infamous ‘Moddey Dhoo’, it was inevitable that home really had to be Peel.
With a shoestring budget we settled in a former water authority depot on Peel Quayside and, following the mother of all upcycling projects, opened our gates to the public in May 2022. Incorporating a licensed bar of mostly Manx beers, ciders, wines and spirits, as well as hot drinks; keeping the informal 'street-food' theme; and hosting regular live music, the Black Dog has forged a name for itself as the Island's super-informal eatery of choice.
We don't offer fine dining, but this much we can guarantee: Our pizzas are thin and crispy, packed with local flavour, served piping hot, and are delivered to your table with a smile.
