About
Dalby Hub Bunkhouse has 2 Star Tourist Board Certification. It offers exclusive single group occupancy in a beautiful location. Only one group will be booked in at any one time, your party will have exclusive use of the building.
The Hub Bunkhouse is situated on the West Coast of the Island on the Raad Ny Foillan and is ideal for anyone exploring on bike or on foot.
Built into the lower elevation of the historic church and schoolrooms of St James Dalby, the Bunkhouse was originally designed as the school masters’ house. It has been extensively renovated to create a light open-plan but cosy living space, with views of the sea and the far distant Mountains of Mourne, and is strategically placed for stunning sunsets!
Run by a community group affiliated to the church we're a Fairtrade, Eco Friendly, Not for Profit organisation looking to share this beautiful space and landscape with others. We offer overnight stays for those walking the Raad ny Foillan at its most extreme and punishing stretch, or for those just simply seeking a quiet place to chill and take in the surrounding scenery. After costs all proceeds go to the ongoing maintenance and restoration of this historic building.
The Bunkhouse has:
> A bed / living room, equipped with a wood-burning stove and comfy chairs, a table & chairs.
> It sleeps 4, with one double sofa/bed & 2 single sofa/beds: bedding, duvets, towels and pillows are all provided.
> There is a small shower room with heated towel rail, and a separate toilet and wash hand basin with "wet area" for outdoor clothing.
> The kitchenette is equipped with fridge, kettle, micro-wave, small hob, worktop oven, air fryer and toaster as well as cutlery & crockery.
> Basic stores are provided & self -catering breakfast and evening meals can be ordered in advance from the Village Shop.
> We are a ‘WiFi free zone’, ( though 4G is good in the area!) TV is available on request. We have a USB charging socket to facilitate our guests with charging phones etc.
> Basic background heating is provided by a small radiator which is on 24/7 and we provide an initial supply of wood for the stove; additional wood can be bought from the local garage in Peel (5 miles)
* Outside there is a small wildlife/ wildflower garden with table and bench seats with open farmland and sea views
Please note: The Hub is a multi purpose building; for those walking the coastal footpath and wanting just a one-night-stop it's available for private use from 6pm – 10am.
You are very welcome to continue to use the Bunkhouse during the day but from 10 am - 6 pm the space is also available to the general public as a local history exhibition, the front lobby is used to access the Village Shop.
