About

"A little piece of heaven on earth. This is a wonderful island with Close Taggart as its jewel." one of the many complimentary comments in our guest book.  We offer a ‘special holiday for two’ in our delightful four star Gold Award self catering cottages, hidden away in the heart of the quiet Manx countryside at the end of our own country lane. The cottages are decorated and equipped to a high standard, each with a comfortable lounge, with WIFI, TV, DVD & video, a fully equipped kitchen/diner, double bedroom, bathroom and study area with desk and music centre. Extra storage, telephone, deep freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dart board, nostalgic farming souvenirs, and tourist information are available in the utility room.  There is also covered car parking, private patio and garden.   No hidden extras, but in addition you will find a well filled welcome basket, fruit bowl and much more.

Explore the extensive beautiful secluded gardens, or just relax and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine among the leaves in the tree house.   Hundreds of wild geese or a lone hen harrier might fly past when you enjoying the sunset from our viewing platform.  We are about two miles from the nearest well equipped ‘one stop shop’ in Ballaugh Village, with a Post Office and the Raven pub (with delicious pub food!), and about six miles from the larger shops, restaurants, petrol stations and supermarkets in the town of  Ramsey.  Travel advice also available to help with your travel arrangements.

For a slightly more challenging day out  why not follow our self guided walks and enjoy exploring  the local area, maybe with a walk to the sea, or into the nearby exciting and unique internationally important Curragh wetlands, an ASSI and RAMSAR site where you may even see a wallaby peeping out from behind the majestic royal ferns!

We look forward to welcoming you to our favourite part of the world.  Why not follow the link to our website to get more information.

We are very willing to assist with mobility issues, but unfortunately we are unable to accommodate full time wheel chair users due to the layout of the cottage. You can park close to the entrance, with a gravel/ grassed area and cobblestones leading to two small entrance steps.    Inside the cottage the kitchen and lounge are on the ground floor with normal width stairs leading to the bedroom and bathroom on the first floor.

For bookings please follow the link to Island Escapes a friendly local Isle of Man holiday cottages agency who manage our bookings and will be happy to help you.
