Star Ratings are awarded by the independent quality assessors, Quality in Tourism. They will assess a property against the Quality Standards for the type of accommodation the property falls under.
The independent assessors may also choose to award a Gold or Silver accolade. These are awarded in recognition of exceptional quality within a property's achieved star rating or outperforming a star rating. Areas including housekeeping, service and hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and food if provided to see if it meets the highest quality for the star level achieved.
While star ratings are based on a combination of quality, range of facilities and level of service offered, Gold and Silver accolades are based solely on quality.
Accolades are assessed at every bi-annual grading visit and scores must be continually achieved for the property to retain the accolade.
Breakfast Award
For many visitors a good breakfast is important and will set them up for the day ahead!
The Breakfast award is awarded to properties achieving exceptionally high scores for the quality of breakfast they serve.
As part of the assessment, the assessor will score the breakfast served on a criteria including; choice and range of dishes, presentation, quality of ingredients & produce and service & hospitality.
Friendly Schemes
Visit Isle of Man has a range of Friendly Schemes to give our visitors the comfort of knowing that selected accommodation provides specific services and facilities to meet their needs.
The independent assessors will assess the property against the criteria for each Friendly Scheme a property has joined as part of the bi-annual grading visit.
For more details on each Friendly Scheme available, visit the Friendly Schemes page.
Should your property achieve any of the above accolades, you will be provided with the logos to be used in your marketing material and social media and also inclusion on specific search filters on the visitisleofman.com website.
