In 2020, Visit Isle of Man Agency commissioned an independent study by destination specialist research agency, Blue Sail, to identify the potential for visitor-related product development on the Isle of Man in the context of what attractions and activities already exist on the Island.
The purpose of the study was to see how the Island can develop its product offering over 11 product areas, to determine where to focus product innovation efforts and development initiatives to grow the visitor economy. It also offered the opportunity to assess consumer behaviour during and post the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact and opportunities this is could present for the Isle of Man as a visitor destination.
Amongst others, the outcomes highlighted were;
-
To move towards grouping products in ways that make sense to the visitor and create memorable experiences.
-
The Island’s outdoor activities can collectively form a compelling offer, as they take place in an environment declared and internationally recognised as a Biosphere.
-
The Island’s tourism infrastructure needs to align with contemporary visitor expectations of experiences, quality and service.
Below you will find a printable summary and a video presentation summarising the research findings. Take time to review our checklist based on the research recommendations, featuring tips and resources help Island attractions, activity providers and new start-ups grow, enhance and promote quality experiences to potential visitors and our key target markets. This also signposts to relevant support including consultancy and financial assistance schemes.
