There’s something comforting about heading to a cosy coffee shop for a warming drink, even better if it’s a local establishment, unique to its environment and culture. The Isle of Man has its fair share of delightful coffee shops and cafes, and we’ve gathered together a list of some of our favourites so that every visitor knows where to head for their daily dose of coffee culture.

Noa

Noa Isle of Man

Noa is effectively coffee royalty on the Isle of Man, not only selling their home-roasted balanced blends and special single origins at their three locations across the Island, but also providing other coffee shops with blends.

Noa pride themselves on artisanal, rustic vibes, which are achieved at their sites; Noa Bakehouse in Douglas’s Peveril Buildings, their home in Douglas’s Santander Work Café, and their seasonal pop-up at Port Erin’s Cosy Nook.

In addition to delicious coffee, Noa are predominantly known for their breads and baked goods, which are sold both on-site and at different retailers on the Island. Their sourdough is elite, as are their almond croissants- chef’s kiss.

The Café at the Sound

The Café at the Sound wins the best views award, hands down. With stunning panoramic views of the Calf of Man and the surrounding countryside, it’s very hard to beat. Accompany this with Manx Roast coffee and a broad menu that encompasses lots of local produce, and you’ve got the recipe for a wonderful coffee spot.

If you can grab a window seat, or take advantage of the outdoor seating, we absolutely recommend that you engage in some seal spotting as you enjoy your caffeine hit, the area is beloved for its abundance of frolicking marine mammals.

Gaia

Gaia Isle of Man

Gaia is the Island’s only vegetarian coffee shop, located in the central hub of Douglas. A takeaway spot, this gem is the place to head to for an on-the-go beverage, perhaps to enjoy as you stroll around the Island’s city.

The shop is known for its yummy coffee and vegetarian food, including healthy smoothie bowls, soups and bagels, a dream for any plant-based visitors!

Roots

Roots Isle of Man

Roots is so well-loved on the Isle of Man that they have three different coffee shops island-wide; Roots by the Sea in Peel, Roots in the City in Douglas, and Roots at the Bay in Port St Mary.

Their signature blend, the Roots by the Sea Blend, is created by local coffee roasters, Noa, and is delightful. They’re also known for their homebaked goods (particularly their mouth-watering brownies) and fresh breakfast and lunch options, including a varied menu of loaded bagels, our favourite is the McPeel- a fresh, local take on a McDonald’s McMuffin.
