About

Western Swimming Pool is a regional and inclusive swimming facility that caters for a wide range of swimming and water based activities and events. There is a main and a children’s pool to cover all levels of ability and confidence.

Whether you are a serious swimmer or a complete novice, whether you want lessons or you just want to play; there is something for everyone. The pool offers quiet early bird swimming sessions as well as a wide range of lessons designed to take children from 4 months old in the baby pool, right through to Island Squad level.

For our younger customers, we have Rookie Lifeguard, a junior lifesaving and water safety programme, the BSAC Dolphin Snorkeller Course which delivers the basics of snorkelling, and the Little Gems Synchronised Swimming Club which offers a fun and exciting introduction to synchro.

Alongside our adult coaching scheme, we offer a range of other courses including fitness coaching and water sports. AquaFit, AquaBeat and the Silver Club offer aerobics-style, water based exercise at a range of difficulties to suit all abilities. We can also offer kayaking classes through Adventurous Exeriences Isle of Man.

The pool also undertakes the TT Swim Challenge between January and Aprile each year. The TT Challenge is unique to Western Swimming Pool and the aim is to swim the equivalent distance of the Isle of Man TT course, 37.5 miles or 2416 lengths, in a period of about 4 months, from January to Easter. TT swimmers gain discounted entry to WSP but you can complete the distance at any pool across the world. There is a small entry fee of £15 which includes, a specially designed log book to keep track of your progress and a ticket to the presentation ceremony when the challenge is complete. The remaider of the entry fees is given to a local charity which has previously included the Amublance First Responders and Peel RNLI.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy a wide range of refreshments in the newly refurbished light and airy café that provides cakes, snacks and hot meals on a daily basis.
