About
Built as a parish church in 1879-1884, Cathedral Isle of Man was consecrated as a Cathedral in 1980. As an Anglican Cathedral it is a place of worship, but its role extends well beyond the church community, as it welcomes people of all faiths and none across the Island to use the facilities for creative arts and a variety of events as well as religious occasions or even as a place for quiet contemplation.
Through its links to Island culture, the Cathedral has a wealth of history and knowledge that can be shared and enjoyed by the community. There are a variety of interesting features both within the Cathedral and outside in the Cathedral grounds where you will find the newly designed Cathedral Gardens that follow the story of Christianity in Mann from the early 5th century to present day.
From the last three pieces of silver that Archibald Knox commissioned to the unique murals by John Nicholson made from Caen stone, there are many fascinating and intriguing treasures to discover at Cathedral Isle of Man.
The main featurepoint is the beautiful and highly-detailed stained glass windows that adorn the four walls of the Cathedral and tell stories of the Bible in a bright and vibrant design that is sure to catch your eye.
You can also take a guided tour, provided by wardens of the Cathedral as they lead you around the grounds and tell you the hidden secrets of the Island's only Cathedral and its many fascinating aspects. You can also visit the Gardens which surround the Cathedral and are full of colour and life to carry you through the story of Christianity and its many facets. The Cathedral provides all amenities for your visit, with disabled access, free guidebooks and a small kitchenette where you are welcome to prepare a hot drink to enjoy while you make your way around the Cathedral grounds. Whatever your interest, you are sure to find something for you at Cathedral Isle of Man.
Guide Prices
Admission to the Cathedral is free unless there is a ticketed event (e.g. a concert) on. Donations welcome to support the day to day work of the Cathedral and the development projects

Payment Methods
- Approx length of visit - c40 minutes for inside of Cathedral. Gardens up to one hour to wander around including labyrinth which is an exact replica size wise of the one at Chartres Cathedral in France. Printed leaflets available inside the Cathedral for both Cathedral and gardens
- BACS accepted - If you would like to make a BACS payment please contact the office on 01624 844830 for details. Donations for the Cathedral can also be put into the wall safe near to the internal door where you enter and exit the Cathedral (not the main entrance into porch area). If you would like to make a donation towards the gardens, envelopes are available on the table at the west end of the Cathedral and by the plans for the gardens.
