About

Seagrass Cottage is a cosy coastal retreat in the hamlet of Spaldrick, close to Port Erin village. With rural views and just a couple of minutes from Spaldrick Beach and Bradda Glen, this is the perfect base for walking, cycling and exploring the coast and sea. The cottage is tucked away up a small lane behind the main promenade.

Port Erin village is only a 10 minute walk down the promenade, where you can find a range of local shops, a supermarket and a small selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Port Erin has a fabulous sandy beach suitable for bathing and a steam train station with regular trains to Douglas from spring to autumn.

The house is a renovated cottage with a double bedroom and a single bedroom that can also be used as a twin (suitable for two children). The property has a kitchen with dining table and everything you need to cook for yourself during your stay. There is a cosy sitting room with plenty of books to read and WiFi.

We are working to make the cottage as environmentally-friendly as possible. The bedding and towels are organic cotton, we use nature-friendly cleaning products as much as possible and we minimise the use of single use plastics.

The cottage has a garden and a shed suitable for storing bikes and other outdoor equipment.

Port Erin is a great base for an Isle of Man holiday. The south of the Island has a wealth of attractions, from the living history of Cregneash village to the dive centre in Port St Mary. The rest of the Island is never more than an hour away by car or you can explore using our good bus system and heritage transport like the steam trains and electric trams.

At Seagrass Cottage you can:

Run down the steps to Spaldrick Beach and have your morning swim, or snorkel around the rocks spotting wrasse and mullet.

At low tide, explore the wealth of rock pools in the bay and find bright sea anemones and darting shrimps.

Take a glass of wine or a cup of tea down to the bench overlooking the beach and watch beautiful sunsets over the bay.

Stroll to the end of Bradda Glen and watch out for harbour porpoises and basking shark fins.

Stride up to Milner's Tower and enjoy breath-taking views across to the Calf of Man and over the south of the Island.

Create your own writing retreat, with plenty of inspiration from nature.
