Curlew cottage is a charming 18th century one (double) bedroom traditional Manx stone cottage which retains some original features a stone fireplace and open beam ceilings in lounge and bedroom, yet updated to provide cosy, comfortable, relaxing self catering accommodation ideally suitable for a couple or solo traveller. Perfect for the business or leisure visitor.

The cottage is situated in a quiet cobbled street part of a conservation area in the heart of historical Castletown, with the magnificent medieval Castle Rushen once home to the Kings and Lords of Mann as well as the three other Manx National Heritage sites The Old House of keysThe Nautical Museum and The Old Grammar School all within 5 minute walk from the cottage to the town centre.

Curlew cottage provides easy access to all local amenities within the town centre which offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs (including the famous Glue Pot Inn) as well as an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and bowling green, and Golf links.

Curlew cottage provides an excellent base to explore the beautiful Isle of Man. Just outside Castletown are the lovely beaches of Derbyhaven, Scarlett and Langness.

The surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers and bird watchers with many picturesque footpaths, glens and plantations.

For motorcyclists and racing fans the cottage is only a 5 minute walk from the Billown road race circuit which hosts the famous Southern 100 road race held the 2nd week of July, and also the pre and post TT /Classic road races at the end of May each year and  also pre/post Manx Grand Prix in August .

Curlew cottage is very easily accessed from Ronaldsway Airport approx 5 minute drive and Douglas Ferry Terminal  approx 20 minute drive. Taxis are available outside the airport terminal and Douglas sea terminal.

With access to public transport only a 5 minute walk away the cottage is ideal for those travelling without a car to explore the Island.

Minimum Stay 3 nights (except TT, MGP and Southern 100 which are 7 days) midweek and weekend breaks available. Flexible changeover day. 

Curlew Cottage is managed by local Isle of Man holiday cottage company Island Escapes. Book directly on their website. 

Accommodation

Lounge/Dining area: Sofa, TV, Wi-Fi, stone fireplace (non functional), dining room table and chairs.

Kitchen: Fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, washer/dryer, and fridge.

Bedroom: Double bed, wardrobe, two bedside cabinets with 3 drawers.

Ensuite Bathroom: Bath, walk in shower, washbasin, toilet and heated towel rail.

Outside: Sunny lawned garden with patio area with table and 2 chairs to relax in.

Parking: No immediate parking right outside, but there is plenty of on street parking available a short walk away where there is also a carpark.

Damage: Important! We are committed to protecting our properties which is why we now take a £35 fee from each booking as a damage waiver. This is included in the price you pay and covers you for up to £500 worth of accidental damages to the property that could occur whilst you are staying.

By Car from the Airport

On exiting the Airport take the 1st exit at the roundabout to A5 Castletown. At next roundabout take 3rd exit onto Victoria Road/A5. At next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Alexandra Road/A5. Then turn left immediately before the EVF Ellan Vannin Fuels garage into Milner Terrace. Continue straight onto Mill Street. The cottage is a few yards down on the left-hand side. Last house at end of terraced row.

By Car from Douglas Ferry Terminal

Turn left on exiting the sea terminal and follow the signs for A5 /Castletown. Via the Old Castletown Road and Kewaige Hill. At the roundabout take the 1st exit to the New Castletown Road /A5. Continue on A5. Continue straight on A5 at roundabout passing Ronaldsway Airport. . At next roundabout take 3rd exit onto Victoria Road/A5. At next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Alexandra Road/A5. Then turn left immediately before the EVF Ellan Vannin Fuels garage into Milner Terrace. Continue straight onto Mill Street. The cottage is a few yards down on the left-hand side. Last house at end of terraced row.

Public Transport Directions

By Bus from the Airport

Buses to Douglas and Port Erin stop outside the Airport Terminal. Take the number 1 or 2 bus that is travelling in the direction of Port Erin to Castletown and get out at the Casltetown Square bus stop. Its approx 5 minute walk to the cottage from here. Walk  down Malew Street and then turn right into Mill Street. The cottage is located at 34 Mill Street on right hand side, with the Curlew Cottage sign clearly visible on the front.

By Bus from Douglas Ferry Terminal.

Take the number 1 or 2 bus from Lord Street bus interchange Stand C travelling in direction of Port Erin to Castletown. Get out at Castletown Square bus stop and follow the directions above to the cottage.
