The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has marked a major milestone in regional connectivity with the launch of its new ferry service between the Isle of Man and Larne.

The inaugural sailing, which took place on April 1, was attended by the Lord Mayor of North Antrim, Jackson Minford alongside senior representatives from the Steam Packet Company, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in travel between the two regions.

The new route strengthens links between the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland, offering passengers greater choice, flexibility, and opportunities to explore both destinations.

Commenting on the launch, Brian Thomson said:

“We are delighted to introduce this new service to Larne, opening up more opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. Today’s inaugural sailing represents our ongoing commitment to improving connectivity for our passengers.”

Passengers on the first crossing enjoyed a celebratory sailing experience and the opportunity to be part of a historic journey.

Passengers arriving into Larne can enjoy easy access to some of Northern Ireland’s most scenic attractions, close to The Giant’s Causeway and Carrick -a -Rede Rope Bridge and scenic Atlantic Coastline, making the new route ideal for short breaks and day trips.

It is hoped that the new route will provide a boost to tourism and local economies on both sides of the Irish Sea, making it easier than ever to experience everything the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland have to offer.
