Visit Isle of Man is proud to share that the Isle of Man has once again been recognised by leading national media titles as one of the best islands in the British Isles, cementing its growing status as a must-visit destination.
Out of more than 800 islands surrounding Britain’s coastline, Discover Britain ranked the Isle of Man 7th in its top ten British islands, celebrating its ancient Celtic and Norse heritage, rich wildlife and scenic panoramic views. The Island also featured in The Telegraph’s definitive list of the 40 best British islands, earning 9th place based on a range of metrics including weather reliability, peak elevation and population density. Additionally, the Daily Mail highlighted the Isle of Man as one of the most beautiful UK islands for a walkable holiday, commending its varied landscapes and extensive coastal trails.
These recent accolades build on the growing national and international recognition for the Isle of Man, following a standout year for the Island in the world of travel and tourism. In 2024, the Island was voted as one of the top ten ‘Most Desirable Islands in Europe’ in the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, and also ranked among the top ten UK island destinations in the Condé Nast Traveller’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards. Most recently, the Isle of Man was named by BBC Travel as one of the ’25 Best Places to Visit in 2025’, further affirming its appeal on the global stage.
Deborah Heather, CEO of Visit Isle of Man, commented:
‘This continued recognition from well-respected national publications is a wonderful endorsement of everything the Isle of Man has to offer. Whether it’s a long weekend escape or a slower-paced walking holiday, the Island delivers something truly unique – from its heritage and wildlife to its peaceful, awe-inspiring landscapes.
‘To be highlighted across Discover Britain, The Telegraph and the Daily Mail, in addition to our recent accolades from Wanderlust, Condé Nast Traveller and BBC Travel, is a real point of pride, and reflects our ongoing mission to position the Isle of Man as one of the most extraordinary destinations in the British Isles.’
Sarah Maltby MHK, Political Member with responsibility for Tourism, Motorsport and Heritage, added:
‘The growing recognition we’re seeing from some of the UK’s most respected travel titles reflects the work we’ve been doing to raise the Island’s profile as a distinctive and sustainable visitor destination. Our strategic vision is to position the Isle of Man as a leading island worldwide – one that offers exceptional quality, celebrates its cultural uniqueness, and champions responsible tourism. It’s encouraging to see this ambition echoed in national media and felt by our visitors.’
The Island’s continued rise in the spotlight comes at a time when more visitors are seeking meaningful, experiential and nature-led getaways, something the Isle of Man delivers in abundance. With accessible ferry and air routes, a packed calendar of events, and the freedom to explore without the crowds, the Isle of Man is proving itself to be a timeless and much-loved destination.
