Visit Isle of Man is hosting its second drop-in networking session for the benefit of business in the local tourism industry.

Aimed at local business or individuals who are involved, or interested in becoming involved, in offering visitor accommodation, attractions or events, the session will enable attendees to engage with industry experts, other members of the Tourism industry and the Visit Isle of Man team. The session will provide an excellent opportunity for members of the industry to ask questions and understand what assistance and resources are available to them.

Rob Callister MHK, Member of the Deapartment for Enterprise with responsibility for Visit Isle of Man commented:

We committed in the Programme for Government to working with industry to improve and enhance our overall proposition for tourists. These drop in sessions provide an ideal opportunity for those within the industry to chat with the Visit Isle of Man team in an informal setting to see how we can work together with a shared vision of supporting and growing the Island's visitor economy.

The Eastern session is being held on Wednesday 16th January between 2pm and 7pm at the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino, and industry members also have the option to book 15 minute one to one sessions with the Visit Isle of Man team if they wish to discuss something more specific.

A member of the Department's Enterprise Support team will be on hand to discuss various grants and assistance schemes. This could include support for business start-ups, consultancy, websites and energy efficient loans. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the recent extension of the Department's 'Financial Assistance Scheme' (FAS) which supports the relocation of employees in the hospitality industry to help fill the existing vacancies within the sector.

As part of Visit Isle of Man's commitment to the Island's Biosphere status, it will be welcoming a representative from UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man to its Eastern session to give an opportunity for the industry to learn more about the importance of the project and how tourism trade partners can sign up as Biosphere partners.

The MiQuando Homestay Team will also be in attendance to answer any questions for anyone interested in taking part in the scheme to offer accommodation at the TT and the Festival of Motorcycling.
