About

NEWLY IMPROVED FOR 2024 - Now with shower room and fitted kitchen with all the mod con’s! 18th Century meets 21st Century.

Wyllin Cot is a delightful and very quirky 18th century fisherman's cottage, nestled in the hamlet of Glen Wyllin and is steeped in history. Glen Wyllin started out life as a mill and Wyllin means ‘mill’ in Manx. The cottage was built in the 18th century and this tiny yet perfectly formed building has been restored sympathetically to maintain original character with modern day luxuries. A very special feature of Wyllin Cot is the garden that comes with it. Take a walk down a private grassy path opposite the cottage, to a peaceful and enclosed garden of considerable size. Also available for your use is the summer house, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

It is situated in a conservation area where there are immediate walks on your door step. You can take a lovely wooded riverside walk in Coooildarry Nature Reserve which is owned by the Manx Wildlife Trust or down to the beach and along the coast.

You are spoilt for choice in Wyllin Cot as you can completely relax on the colder days in the unique slipper bath in the master bedroom, or you can curl up next to the log burner. If you are more of an adventurous type and like to be out and about exploring there are plenty of mountain bike trails, lots of tarmac for those road cyclists or for motor bike enthusiasts with immediate access to the Isle of Man TT course. For walkers the Raad Ny Foillan coastal footpath or up into the hills and all without jumping into a car!

There is a lounge/kitchen with a downstairs toilet and shower room and upstairs the Master bedroom with a slipper bath. Next door your dressing room with hair dryer, straighteners and clothes hangers/storage.

Please note the slipper bath wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility issues as you need to be able to step into the bath.

Situated across the lane from the house and originally set up by 2 entrepreneurs in the late 1800s, when the railway ran into Glen Wyllin, as a Victorian garden with a tea room. Rare plants were brought into the garden to thrive into this area which is now owned by the cottage. A beautiful and large wild garden with a river running alongside provides the perfect setting for you to unwind.
