This project sees the first major refurbishment of the Promenade since it was built in 1868 and will promote better vehicular traffic flow as well as improved areas for the public with dedicated seating, cycle stands.

Additionally, the DfE's Enterprise Support Team have set up a temporary scheme, The Douglas Promenade Support Scheme (DPSS), that has been established to provide grant assistance to support local businesses whose turnover has been adversely affected by the ongoing Douglas Promenade Refurbishment Scheme.
