An adventure in the south of the Island awaits... Glorious beaches, fascinating heritage and impressive walking trails can be discovered in the south of the Isle of Man in this one day itinerary...
Stop 1 - Derby Haven and Langness Nature Walk
The Langness peninsula accommodates the beautiful secluded cove of Derbyhaven and the iconic Langness Lighthouse. There are several walking routes which incoporate the Lighthouse and main headland - if you're lucky, you might spot the harbour porpoises and dolphins that frequent these waters!
The headland is also home to Herring Tower and the hidden Provider Stone, which stands near the tower on the coast as a memorial to the Provider vessel that was wrecked at Langness in 1853...
Further along the peninsula is Derbyhaven Bay, a great spot for keen windsurfers and scuba diving enthusiasts! In the bay, you will also find a further secluded island which is a bird sanctuary and home to the ruins of two ancient buildings; St Michael's Chapel and Derby Fort - both also perfect for Dark Skies nights.
Stop 2 - Hidden Fairy Doors, Balley Cashtal Beg
Explore Balley Cashtal Beg, which is Manx Gaelic for 'Little Castletown', and see if you can find where the 'Little People' live! There are over 70 bright and colourful fairy doors to find; discover Bowling Green Pixies, Carnival Fairies, Seafarers and many more!
