Castle Rushen

About

Located in the ancient capital of the Isle of Man Castletown, the impressive fortress was once home to the Kings and Lords of Mann. Nowadays it serves as a museum complete with era-accurate decorations and life-like settings, earning a reputation as one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe.

With rush matted floors and rich tapestries, the finely furnished rooms in the Castle's keep offer a sumptuous setting for entertaining lending itself for small banquets, corporate receptions or wedding ceremonies. The outdoor Bailey with the majestic backdrop of the Castle and wall walks offers space for an open air ceremony, performance or marquee event. Or opt for a small gathering or ceremony in the more modern quarters in Derby House.

Several locations in Castle Rushen are now Approved Places for Civil Ceremonies, all providing a truly unique setting for your big day and the stunning views across the harbour and out across the Irish Sea to match.

For your special day, the surrounding area also offers perfect photo opportunities with stunning views from the ramparts, coastal viewpoints on the harbour, shingle beaches or volcanic Scarlett nature reserve just a short walk away.

Manx National Heritage in partnership with Event Management Solutions Ltd now offer a wide range of unique venues for weddings, corporate meetings and functions or special occasions.

These unique locations offer a real chance to create something special for you, your clients and guests.
