About

If you're looking for a laid-back rest stop, with plenty of personality and easy access to the beautiful Isle of Man, you've found it. Captain's Quarters is large enough to be comfortable, but small enough to care.

We became a B&B because we love this island, and we want to share it. We may be biased, but we believe Castletown is the best base. It's the ancient capital, with a historic castle, and four other museums to explore. If sport is your thing, visit the Pre-TT and Southern 100 circuit, or the hilarious World Tin Bath Championship. The stunning Raad Ny Foillan walk offers spectacular views and glimpses of wildlife.

You can buy a bottle, bake a bun, or throw a pot. Several of the six welcoming hostelries offer meals too. Don't miss the Japanese restaurant, or the fabulous seaside gelatory. There's a beautiful harbour, and a paved pedestrian square. And they are all a short walk away.

The property was recently renovated throughout, and designed to offer an eco-luxe experience. Our desire to leave the gentlest footprint is woven into the fabric of the building, so you may not even notice what makes us different. We're proud to be fossil-fuel free; our power, heating and hot water are all delivered via solar panels. We breathed new life into an unloved late-20th century building, and our favourite finishing touches are all pre-loved.

Feel free to relax in the Officer's Mess after a busy day exploring. The breakfast table doubles up as your pool table, and you'll find glassware in the MT Bottle, our ship-shaped bar cabinet. Challenge your friends at the 60's football table, or darts, or our wide selection of games and puzzles. If the weather is kind, grab a club and potter around our three-hole putting green.

If you'd rather kick back in your own space, pop the TV on, help yourself to our vintage vinyl, or borrow a book. All three Guest Rooms are en-suite, and come with everything you need to enjoy a morning cuppa. You won't find your supplies in sachets or single use plastics though. No one is perfect, but we aim to make the best decisions for a healthy planet, while delivering a supremely comfortable guest experience.

We're committed to offering great value too, our room-only rate remains the same year round. We don't believe it's fair to charge more for the same room and the same service, even during race season. But do look out for our special offers, as the room rate can come down... Of course, if you'd like to add on breakfast, use of the hot tub, or treats for your special occasion, please ask - we are here to help.

Map & Directions

Public Transport Directions

Outside is a work in progress, though we do offer ample off-road parking. But why not leave the car behind? The bus service here is brilliant; jump on a 1, 2, 11 or 12 in Castletown Square to head up towards the city, or down to the coast, every 20 minutes.

If you're heading towards us, join the same services from Stand C on Lord Street, just a two minute walk from the ferry terminal. They stop by the airport and the charming Steam Railway too. So, however you get here, you can take your foot off the pedal and sample some Manx ales too!
