Visiting the Isle of Man - key things to know

Year of the Manx Language 2026

  1. Culture Vannin and Manx National Heritage are delighted to present a 6-month long exhibition about Gaelg, the Manx language. This will run between 25th April and 4th October 2026 at the Manx Museum.
  2. Scoill Souree – the Manx Language Summer School for adults (16+) – will be taking place between 27th – 31st July 2026 in the Isle of Man. There will be classes for absolute beginners, through to advanced learners.
  3. In the summer of 2026, immerse yourself in the heart of Celtic music and culture at Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering, taking place from 27th July – 2nd August 2026 in the picturesque town of Peel and the Island’s capital, Douglas.
  4. The Cooish is an annual Manx language festival, which has been running since 1995, when it was known as “Feailley Ghaelgagh”. “Cooish” has many meanings, including a cosy chat or get together, a subject, or cause.
