Isle of Man Steam Packet Holidays by Ferry

If you travel to the Isle of Man by sea, you’ll have the option of coming as a foot passenger or bringing a car, motorcycle or campervan.

The Steam Packet Company operates ferry services to the Isle of Man from Heysham, Liverpool, Dublin, and Belfast via our vessels below:

Manxman, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s flagship, was built in 2023 and has been crafted to provide travellers with a stylish, comfortable and top-quality service when sailing to and from the Isle of Man. The vessel was commissioned to best meet passenger wants and needs, taking into consideration how the space could be utilised to give a spacious, luxurious feel. Manxman has a passenger capacity of 948, meaning that it can accommodate over 300 more people than its predecessor ship – Ben-my-Chree.

Whether you're on a business trip or embarking on a family vacation, Manxman's thoughtful design ensures an ideal space for everyone. All public areas on the vessel are wheelchair accessible, featuring cafés, bars, and various quiet spots. There's also a range of activities for children, and a designated area for your pets to enjoy.

Manxman is powered by the world’s most efficient four-stroke diesel engine. Recognised for its high level of fuel efficiency which significantly reduces exhaust emissions, it will help us to deliver a far more sustainable and environmentally friendly operation overall.

The Manxman operates all-year-round services from Heysham. The Manxman will also be able to undertake weekend sailings to Liverpool during the winter season from the end of 2024.

You can also choose to board the 96-metre wave piercing catamaran, Manannan, which offers passengers a great experience of quick and comfortable travel to the Isle of Man. Relax in a variety of seating areas, including two small cinema lounges, a bar and café.

Manannan runs between March and October from Liverpool and operates seasonal services from Dublin and Belfast.

When you arrive in the Isle of Man, you’ll dock at the Sea Terminal in Douglas, the Island’s capital, where you’ll find a taxi rank just outside and where car hire drop off can be arranged in advance.

If you wish to visit the Island during the TT and Manx Grand Prix periods, please book well in advance. These are exceptionally busy times and you will need to book early in order to fulfil your travel plans.
