Internal Accessibility Improvement Projects
To improve accessibility within existing properties applicants can receive 50% of the cost up to £25,000, items supported include: -
- Permanent modifications including (but not limited to) signage, handrails, step edges, door handles, automatic doors, ramps, lifts, lighting, contrasting floor coverings, stair lifts and other accessible facilities;
- Specialist furniture, counter or room inductions loops; and
- Other reasonable accessibility adjustments at the Department’s discretion.

Developing a New Hostel
A grant up to 40% is available towards the development of a new hostel. Projects should ideally include six or more units or have capacity for ten or more guests. Preference may be given to proposals that also offer activities related to nature, wildlife, or outdoor exploration.

Developing a New Permanent Camping or Glamping Site

A grant up to 40% towards the development of an exisiting permanent campsite.

A grant up to 40% towards the development of existing alternative accommodation sites, including yurts, log cabins, pods, treehouses and safari tents etc.

A grant up to 40% towards the creation of a new, permanent campsite of 3* plus standard.

Making External Visual Improvements to Your Property
A grant of 50% up to £25,000 per project to enhance the external appearance of buildings. Eligible improvements include access features such as doors, automatic doors, and ramps; signage; shop fronts; lighting schemes; painting and rendering; windows; and other measures at the Department’s discretion.

Becoming Energy Efficient

75% grant (up to £5,000) towards an energy audit to identify opportunities to reduce emissions and energy costs.

100% interest-free unsecured loans available (from £1,000 up to £100,000) to fund energy efficiency upgrades such as insulation, low-energy lighting, EV charging points, and renewable energy systems.
- Up to £50,000 for businesses of all sizes
- £50,000 to £75,000 businesses require more than 10 employees
- £75,000 to £100,000 businesses require more than 25 employees

Upgrading Your Star Rating
Up to 20% financial assistance is available for improvements to existing serviced or non-serviced visitor accommodation rated 3* or above, with six or more units or capacity to sleep ten or more people.

Up to 40% financial assistance is available for the development of new serviced or non-serviced visitor accommodation rated 3* and above, such as serviced apartments or self-catering units, with six or more units or capacity to sleep ten or more people.
