Visit Isle of Man, an Executive Agency within the Department for Enterprise, have received Tynwald approval for its ten-year Visitor Economy Strategy – ‘Our Island, Our Future’

The Visitor Economy Strategy - 'Our Island, Our Future', which was unanimously approved by Tynwald, outlines the strategic plan for growing the Island’s Visitor Economy over the next 10 years through to 2032. The strategy is designed to complement and inform the strategies, policies and ambitions across all government departments, having been developed in partnership with the Island’s Visitor Economy sector and partner Government agencies and organisations.

The ambitious and comprehensive strategy includes a headline target of growing annual visitor numbers to 500,000, with a subsequent economic contribution of £520m, by 2032. The targets within the strategy are underpinned by the overall objective of creating a more compelling and competitive proposition which is centred on a distinctive Manx visitor experience and the establishment of the Island as an eco-tourism destination.

The strategy sets out a pathway for Visit Isle of Man to develop operational and tactical plans in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and Board Members to support the seven Action Programmes. Each Action Programme has been designed to address the challenges faced by industry:

·        Programme 1: Air & Sea Access Improvement
·        Programme 2: Quality Improvement
·        Programme 3: Visitor Accommodation Transformation
·        Programme 4: Visitor Product Development
·        Programme 5: Events Development
·        Programme 6: Market Development
·        Programme 7: Talent Development

The delivery of each programme will be instigated, co-ordinated and supported by the Visit Agency working in partnership with other delivery agencies, Government departments and the private sector.
