Owner of Chapel Bay Lodge, Gaby Cooper, explains why signing up to the Quality in Tourism's Safe, Clean, Legal COVID-19 accreditation is helping her business to get 'Visitor Ready' ahead of the Island's borders reopening...

When I first checked the requirements for attaining Quality in Tourism's Safe, Clean, Legal COVID-19 accreditation, the list of protocols seemed lengthy and onerous.

Chapel Bay Lodge is already frequently commended by our guests for its high levels of cleanliness, however I recognise that with the emergence of COVID-19, visitors have additional concerns and expectations. The accreditation offers guests the reassurance that the accommodation they are booking meets an industry-approved and recognised high standard.

I attended the free 'An Introduction to the Safe, Clean, Legal COVID-19 Accreditation' webinar, organised by Visit Isle of Man and hosted by Deborah and Sarah from Quality in Tourism where they explained in more detail what the scheme involved.

Following an exchange of emails and phone calls with Sarah, who offered me a great deal of support and guidance, I was able to review my processes and create new procedures in line with the scheme.  The assessment of Chapel Bay Lodge was carried out virtually, which proved very straightforward.

Having attained the accreditation, I feel confident that I am offering guests the best levels of cleanliness at Chapel Bay Lodge, as well as giving them the peace of mind that there are procedures in place should the circumstances of their booking change at short notice, whether they are coming for a staycation or have travelled from further afield once restrictions permit.
