The Manx Grand Prix classic races start with a week-long qualifying period dominated by qualifying sessions, followed by race days on Friday, Saturday, and Monday.
It started as a race for amateurs, one organised specifically to counteract the muscling out of many competitors by the professional teams and professional riders, who were increasingly competing in the TT.
