About

Ballalough House Beg, is a 3 bedroom self-catering property with off road parking, located adjacent to Ballalough House, and is found on the edge of the village of Andreas in the centre of the northern plain of the Isle of Man. It is ideally suited for many activities, and the idyllic setting allows the ability to get away from it all, whilst still being within walking distance of the village centre, where an Anglican Church, Post Office, Shop, Butchers, Hair Dressers, and Pub exist. The larger town of Ramsey is 5 miles by car. Buses service the village from Ramsey, and thereon to Douglas, Peel and many other locations around the Island.

Ramsey provides access to the Manx Electric Railway, which wends its’ way to Laxey, where the Mountain railway starts, and on to Douglas, where the explorer can enjoy the Horse Trams, the Steam Railway, or the modern day capital of the Isle of Man. There are many secluded locations around the northern beaches where you can enjoy a quiet walk, or swim in the refreshing waters of the Irish Sea.

The property will sleep up to 6 people in a mixed configuration, with 2 twin/double rooms and one twin room. It is strictly non smoking, children will need to be supervised, and both internal and external stairs make it difficult for those requiring assistance. The property is not geared to take pets of any sort as it is located in an area where wildlife is encouraged, and steps to develop the flora and fauna are actively pursued. A number of copses and large ponds are ideal breeding grounds for the many birds and other wildlife that have made the 7 acres their home. The grounds have a number of beehives – a sample of the honey is in the welcome pack.

Andreas Church houses a collection of Celtic Crosses dating back many hundreds of years, and is worthy of a visit. Further Crosses are to be found at Maughold Parish Church, about 8 miles away from The Beg.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

From the Airport – Take the A5 from the Airport to Castletown, turn right at the 1st roundabout, and turn right again at the next roundabout. About 400m along this road a set of traffic lights control the turning to St John’s, Ramsey and the North – marked the A3 – turn right here. Continue on this road – passing over traffic lights as required, and travelling approximately 20 miles to Sulby. Sulby village boasts one of the faster sections on the TT but is tightly controlled as a 40 mph and then 30 mph section with a sharp right bend at the end of the straight. At this bend is a left turn marked for Andreas A17 – turn left at the Bend and stay on the road – travelling across the crossroads at St Judes, and onto Andreas. Once into the village turn left at the village clock (still the A17) – in front of the school – continue on this road to the roundabout, where you turn left on to Smeale Road – the B6. Ballalough House Beg is to be found approximately 400m from the roundabout on the Left – the Main house is marked – look for the low wall. Pull into the drive and park near the garage.

From the Ferry – From the Ferry, go along the promenade towards Onchan, watch for the elongated island which you have to stop at, proceed past the Gaiety Theatre, then turning left at the traffic lights outside the Villa Marina – approximately 200m from the Gaiety. At the Traffic lights turn right (a wall sign shows Stanley Terrace – you are okay), and follow Victoria Road to it’s junction with Glencrutchery Road (the end of the road) – turn right and then at the next mini roundabout turn left. You are on the TT course – marked A18 to Ramsey – and will follow this through to Ramsey on your way to Andreas. In Ramsey stay with the main road, go across the traffic lights at Parliament Square, and across the two mini roundabouts, you are now on your way to Andreas – (marked A9). Stay on the road for 4 miles, not turning off (even though it may be signed Andreas), the road leads to a roundabout – take the second exit (straight across), and Ballalough House Beg is to be found approximately 400m from the roundabout on the Left – the Main house is marked – look for the low wall with railings. Pull into the drive and park near the garage.
