Map & Directions

Road Directions

Directions to The Empress Hotel

From the ferry terminal, drive along the Promenade for about 700m and the Empress Hotel is on the left hand side. The hotel does not have any parking onsite, but the Promenade has limited free parking in front of the hotel and further to the left hand side of the promenade for up to 16 hours a day. The area towards the ferry terminal only allows for a 2 hour stay. On arrival at the Hotel, please ask at reception if you are unsure about where to park for free, but please follow signs on the roadside as they have recently changed.

The airport is about 20 minutes drive into Douglas town centre, and follow the signs for the ferry terminal and Promenade. The Empress is then 700m on the left hand side.

Public Transport Directions

Getting Around The Isle of Man

The public transport is good on the Island, and buses are available regularly from the airport to the Hotel. The cost is around £3.10 per person and the number 1 and 1a or number 2 bus drops off about 100m from the hotel entrance (ask the driver to let you know when he is at the Empress).

There are many trams, trains and buses around the island and details can be found in the hotel lobby area during your stay. Go Explore or Go Heritage Explore cards are the best way to get around the Island and allow transport throughout the Island with access to all Heritage sites too with the latter card.
