About

Tynwald is of Norse origin and over 1,000 years old, and is thus the oldest parliament in the world with an unbroken existence.

​​​​​​The Isle of Man's parliament, is the oldest continuous parliament in the world and continues to debate and pass the Island's laws today. The branches sit weekly and Tynwald sits once a month.

Scheduled tours are held every Monday at 2pm and every Friday at 10am (excluding bank holidays). Tours are free of charge and will last approximately 1 hour. Tours start from inside the Library where there is also a small gift shop and exhibition area.

Legislative Buildings are open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.

  • Accessible parking - There are two disabled parking bays outside the Legislative Buildings.

  • Disabled Accessibility - There is ramp access and a wide door into our welcome area and shop. There is lift and stair-lift access to most other areas. However, some areas within the historic Chambers are inaccessible to wheelchairs and to visitors with reduced mobility.
  • Parking Areas for Disabled Visitors - Disabled parking is available nearby. If notice is given, a pass can be provided for parking in the layby outside of the entrance to Legislative Buildings depending on events and availability.
