Douglas Guided Pub Walk

Discover the origins of some of the most popular pubs in Douglas and see how a modern working cellar operates.

Discover the history of beer and the changes to pub interiors over the last 150 years as well as unique local points of interest. Find out what makes a quality pint and have a taste. Price includes 6 half pints of beer (or soft drinks).

There is approximately a total of 40 minutes easy to moderate walking between the pubs and the duration of the walk is in the region of 2 - 3 hours.

Walks take place each Tuesday from April to September, other dates and times can be accommodated by appointment on request.

The walks are for over 18s only and each guest must complete a terms and conditions disclaimer prior to commencement of the walk.

Douglas Quayside Pub Walk
Stroll along "The Barbary Coast" and visit some of the most popular pubs in Douglas. Get an insight into the origins of the pubs and their unique points of interest. Discover the history of beer and how the public house has evolved. Find out what makes a quality pint and have a taste. Price includes 6 half pints of beer (or soft drinks).

Tour duration approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.

Walks take place each Saturday afternoon from April to September, other dates and times can be accommodated by appointment on request.

Road Directions

Douglas Tour - The starting point of The Woodbourne Hotel is situated in upper Douglas and can be reached easily from the main Douglas arterial roads of Broadway and Victoria Street, Jubillee Clock (about a 20 minute walk from either).

Alexander Drive is off Woodbourne Road, The Woodbourne is situated 150 metres on the right.

Douglas Quayside Tour - Follow Peel Road into Douglas and take the right lane at the traffic lights at the Brown Bobby Petrol Station on your right. Turn right at the next set of traffic lights and the Railway Station pub is in front of you when you reach the junction. Paid parking can be found at the south  quay next to the Barbary Coast restaurant or limited time disc zone parking can be found along the quay. Customers of the Steam Railway, can park in the station car park situated opposite the Railway pub.

Public Transport Directions

For the Quayside Tour - Douglas Steam Railway Station is opposite the starting pub The Railway, which is also within easy walking distance of Lord Street Douglas Bus Station, along the quayside.
