Riding A War Zone – An Evening with Billy Ward

About

Billy Ward may not be a household name – but in the world of motorcycle adventurers, he is a bit of a local legend!

Billy, AKA Billy Biketruck, Charley Boorman’s manager and right-hand man, regularly leads motorcycle tours in Australia, Southern Africa, and Morocco – in fact he’s a qualified Safari Guide. But this is a far cry from his escapades riding to one of the most dangerous war zones in the world!

Find out how Billy ended up riding a police motorcycle to the Mosul Frontline in Iraq with Claudio von Planta (the infamous cameraman from the Long Way Round TV Shows) – and was very happy to be there.

Listen as Billy tells his story about landing in a war zone – his nerves on high alert – but then through the world of motorcycles, how he engaged with the people of this ancient and incredibly important part of the world - the birthplace of civilization. Gain an understanding of the impact of unrelenting regional unrest in Kurdistan, and the effect of US intervention and withdrawal and why to this day – it’s a challenging part of the world.

Prepare to be captivated and entertained as Billy recounts an unforgettable journey—one filled with excitement, hilarity, and poignant moments of sadness.
